Today I find myself at my Mother's table. It is 9:00 AM on this partially cloudy Thursday morning here on the Big Island of Hawaii. There is a light, cool breeze and numerous species of birds are sharing their good morning salutations throughout the neighborhood.

Today, I also find myself dealing with an age old issue, which has attached itself to the identity of women in my family since my Great Grandmoteher's youth. Will I continue to allow it residence as a part of me or carve it out, till every last root of this weed has been severed from my garden, my thought.

I will not add another link to this chain. It is no longer an acceptable part of my lineage.
